Dr Claire Lewis

Operational Manager

Claire has held the post of Operational Manager of NIB since June 2016 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of NIB to ensure effective and efficient banking of high-quality samples for research use. She is a member of the European Society for Biorepositories and Biobanks (ESBB), the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) and leads NIB’s involvement in national and international forums and networks to enhance integrated biobanking practices.

Claire has extensive knowledge of human tissue legislation and the accompanying regulations governing tissue banking. She is a Persons Designate on the Queen’s University Belfast Human Tissue Authority Research Licence. Prior to joining the Northern Ireland Biobank, Claire was a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast. She now holds an honorary lecturer post in the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biological Sciences in Queen’s University Belfast.
